Follow this list of activities.
- Look over the Arduino board and breadboard.
- Go to the Circuit 1a: Blink an LED link below. It will take you to a tutorial to help you set up and program your first circuit. Skim through the page to see what is there.
- Set up Circuit #1 using the online tutorial.
- Open up the Arduino software.
- Copy all of the code from the blink in the online tutorial.
- Copy it into Arduino. Make sure you replace all of the text.
- Connect your board to the computer. Be VERY careful with the connections. If you are not sure, please ask for help.
- Under TOOLS, check the BOARD to make sure you have Arduino Uno/Geninuo selected.
- Click the arrow in the software to see if it uploads. You should see lights blinking and blink should start working on your board.
- Ask for help if you aren't sure.
- Once your circuit is complete and working, work on the following modifications:
- Change the blink rate of your LED. Make it blink for a shorter period of time and a longer period of time.
- At some point, our eyes will not sense the LED blinking. Figure out the fastest blink rate that we can see.
- Heartbeat: Make your LED blink like a heartbeat. You will need to add more lines of code to do this.
- Add a second LED to the same circuit.
- Add a second LED circuit to your breadboard. Attach it to Pin 12. Add code to your program to make both of the LED's blink.
