We are looking at what creates the seasons on Earth. One common misunderstanding is that the distance of the Earth and the Sun is the reason. We have spent the last couple of days looking at data to that proves that distance does not matter. Rather, it is the tilt of the Earth and the ever-changing orientation of the Earth in relation to the sun.
We continued our look at gravity and orbits. Attached are the notes from our review. ![]()
We are just starting our Earth in Space Unit. We are beginning with the concepts of gravity and orbits. Attached are the notes we have been working on. ![]()
Most students launched their independently made rockets. We ended up with a team average of 7.12 seconds. This beats the proficient score by over half a second. Solid building!!
Students worked on their design rationale sheets and began building rockets. Attached is the data we collected as a team and a school ![]()
We completed our last round of testing today. We isolated cone mass as our variable and tested 25 grams, 75g and 100g. We will use our 50g mass data from our first round of testing.
We built our final test rockets today. We are adding 4 medium fins and isolating the mass in the cone as the independent variable. ( 25g, 75g, 100g).
Looked at our fin size data Practice bar graph of s,m,l fins Rocket Project Overview with rubric - see attached Review of Engineering Vocabulary - see October.Sky attachment October Sky - see attachment ![]()
A great day of launching today. We were able to launch each rocket 3 times and get lots of good data. Our independent variable was fin size. We tested 4 small and 4 large fins. We will use the data for 4 medium fins from our fin # data
