We worked with the ideas of inference and observation.
Homework - letter to me due 9/11.
Please write me a 1/2 page (or more) letter telling me about yourself.
- Observation - a statement or comment based on what someone has seen or noticed. This is usually fact based. It could be color, texture or something you already know.
- Inference - a conclusion based on evidence (observation) and reasoning (thought). An inference is an effort to make sense of what you are seeing, hearing, etc. We combine observation, past knowledge and thought to help make sense of things. An inference can be true, false, or partly true. In science, an inference often leads you to ask other questions to find something out.
